“Gimnasia en su hogar” is a vinyl record of the late 70’s’ which is part of the first physical practices available to Latin American women.

From the opening of these workouts, three Latin American women encompass a contemporary reading to the experience that this album proposes. How does this album represent the cultural domination of the Latin American female body at that time? What resonances does this have in our contemporary bodies? Was “Gimnasia en el hogar” a space that allowed the attention of these women’s bodies in a patriarchal culture? Or was it another device of oppression towards the female corporeality to control their potential power? How can we construct these movements from our contemporary sensibilities and explore the intensification of their current state?

This performance is a work in progress that seeks to open our experimentation and navigate these questions on stage.
